It was on a Sunday afternoon at the Town center mall in Aurora, around 14km west of Denver, Colorado.
The father was holding his two-year-old boy in his arm. He has finished shopping and heading out.
And the next thing was lots of screaming. As one man told KCNC news, he was in one of the shoe stores when he heard the screaming. He also heard a lady screaming.
According to an eyewitness named Cesar Soloranzo, the shop owner ran outside out of nowhere. He was on the phone when he heard that something had happened.
According to CBS Denver, the officials said that the boy and his father were at the top of the escalator when he appeared to lunge forward and fell two floors.
The boy, who sustained injuries, was rushed to the hospital that day. But sadly, he died on monday despite all efforts to have his life.
The escalator was closed off immediately to other shoppers after the incident. Many shoppers though had no idea this incident happened.
It must have been devastating for the father to see his two-year-old son lying on the hospital bed struggling for his life with injuries all over him.
But how devastating it must be to see his precious boy being interned at a graveyard and is powerless to reverse the situation.
It is a blow to him that will stretch into the days to come. It will remain an unforgettable day for him and all eyewitness parents who were at the scene that day.
